What is a Melee Weapon Fortnite

There are so many ways you can take out enemies in Fortnite. While it is primarily a shooting game, there are also plenty of melee weapons that you can use. Since they require you to get very close to an enemy, their use is very situational. As such, they are often part of challenges. This is the case with the latest challenge, which requires that you “Dislodge or destroy Runaway Boulders with a melee weapon.” But what is a melee weapon in Fortnite? Well, that’s what we’re here to answer and help you with.

What is a Melee Weapon in Fortnite

Runaway Boulders are a new type of environmental object in Fortnite. You can find them perched precariously on high terrain. They are just begging to be dislodged from their position so that they can come tumbling down, running over everything in their path. This makes them ideal to (literally) get the drop on some unsuspecting opponent. Of course, to do this, you will need the right tool for the job. Any melee weapon can be used to dislodge them – such as Darth Vader’s Lightsaber – but you are best off using the most reliable melee weapon of all. Namely, your trusty Pickaxe.

When you have found a Runaway Boulder, hit it a couple of times with your melee weapon and it will then start rolling down. Do this three times to complete this challenge and earn 15.000 XP. Alternatively, you can also destroy these with a melee weapon. However, this is more of something that you can do once you see them hurling down towards you. So be careful, as every hit from a melee weapon will push the boulder away. This means that you can easily get it to come tumbling down towards you again if you misjudge the direction you are hitting it from. In any case, it shouldn’t take you too much time and effort to complete this challenge.
