Will Big Chungus Be in MultiVersus

At the time of writing, we don’t know for sure whether Big Chungus is coming to MultiVersus or not. However, we can engage in some educated guesswork. Let’s review the facts. Warner Brothers have filed to trademark the meme for the purposes of “goods and services.” Now, this encompasses all sorts of merchandising, including toys, clothing, featuring in movies and other media, etc. That last part also includes various uses of Big Chungus in video games. After all, they already had him as a character in Looney Tunes World of Mayhem.

So, it’s safe to assume that Big Chungus will be in MultiVersus at some point. After all, they’ve proved that they’re not above milking memes; we’ve already seen Ultra Instinct Shaggy, after all. Now, there’s just the question of how they’re going to handle Big Chungus. By that, I mean whether he’s going to be a new character, or a skin for Bugs Bunny, or a new move. At this point, we’ll just have to wait and see. The game is certainly silly (and desperate for clout) enough to easily house whatever they choose to do.

We’ll be sure to update this article once we know whether Big Chungus really is coming to Multiversus. One thing that’s interesting and slightly scary for me is seeing mega-corporations now patenting memes, aka transformative creations of other people. What would have happened if Jim Stephanie Sterling decided to trademark the word “chungus,” seeing as how they originated the term? It’s something we all should pay attention to from now on.
