Can You Play Counter Strike 2 on MacOS? CS2 Mac OS Support Explained

Let’s not mince our words here. Instead, we will be direct with you. Currently, to the best of our knowledge, CS2 doesn’t have Mac OS support at launch. That is, you will not be able to play CS2 on MacOS at the moment. This has been confirmed by dozens of players on Reddit and Steam forums, who claim that they are not able to launch the game on their Mac devices. The strange thing is that they were able to download the game completely without any issues. However, when they try to start the game, Counter-Strike 2 simply does nothing.

“I guess they decided to abandon the Mac community?” asks Reddit user Mukster. “I’ve been playing CS:GO on a Macbook. But now, with the CS2 update, it doesn’t open, because it’s trying to open an exe.” Many similar reports can be read on Steam forums. “What the hell is happening here!? I have a Mac and I always played Cs-Go, now updated to 2.0 and I can’t play anymore!” writes angrily Steam user Mysurishi.

CS:GO has indeed supported MacOS. However, given that CS2 is using the new Source 2 engine, it might take Valve more time to port CS2 on MacOS. Hence, for now, it seems that CS2 doesn’t have Mac OS Support. For now, that’s all we know. Nevertheless, we will make sure to update the article once we have more information.
