How to Fix NFS Unbound Crashing, Can’t Load the Game

There are several things you can try to resolve this problem. This includes checking to see if you meet the minimum system requirements, updating your drivers, and some advanced file manipulation. We’re going to cover each of these methods down below.

Need for Speed Unbound System Requirements

Let’s start with the obvious. If you don’t meet the minimum system requirements, you’re going to run into problems one way or another. After all, the game wasn’t designed to run on lower-end hardware. Let’s see which system specs you need to run the game properly:

  • Minimum Memory: 8 GB / Recommended Memory: 16 GB.
  • Minimum GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti / Recommended GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070.
  • Minimum CPU: Intel Core i5-8600 / Recommended CPU: Intel Core i7-8700.
  • Disk space required: 50 GB.
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit.

Need for Speed Unbound Update Drivers

Now that you have checked your system requirements, the next step is to see if you have the latest graphics card drivers. If you do not, this can often cause all types of problems in many games. If you have an Nvidia card, go here to download the latest drivers for your model. And if you are running an AMD card, then go to this website.

Can’t Load the Game, NFS Unbound crashes at launch

We’d like to thank everyone in this Reddit thread for figuring this one out. What you need to do is to delete the DX12 file located in “\Origin Games\Need for Speed Unbound\shadercache”, as well as the one in “\Documents\Need For Speed(TM) Unbound\cache”. It seems like this method has fixed this problem for many players. Though we need to note that, as is the case with every fix that requires you to go into the game or system files and manually delete the files there – you are doing this at your own risk.
