Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX Pokemon evolution doesn’t work the same way it does in standard games in the franchise. In order to evolve Pokemon in Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team, you’ll have to jump through several hoops you normally wouldn’t. You might have some difficulties figuring this stuff out, especially if you’re used to the way evolution usually works. How to Unlock Pokemon Evolution in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX?
To unlock Pokemon Evolution in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX, you first have to beat the game’s main story. That’s kinda counter-intuitive, but it makes sense in the bigger picture of the game. While it’s always satisfying to see your Pokemon evolve, that’s not the main draw of Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX, which is a dungeon crawler at heart.
Instead, evolving is reserved for the rich post-game. That’s when you’ll be exploring legendary dungeons, where you’ll absolutely have to have more powerful Pokemon at your disposal. In fact, it almost feels like the main story is just training for the more difficult activities that come afterwards. So, how does one actually evolve Pokemon in Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX?
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX – How to Evolve & Mega Evolve Pokemon?
To evolve Pokemon in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX, go north of Pokemon Square, to Whiscash Pond. After you’ve completed the main story, the Luminous Cave will appear in the area. So, take the Pokemon you want to evolve and make them your Team Leader, then send them into the cave by themselves. Every Pokemon that evolves by leveling up will automatically evolve as far as their current level allows.
As for Pokemon that commonly require some item to evolve will require Evolution Crystals in this game. You’ll need two or four per evolution, depending on the Pokemon. To get the Evolution Crystals, you’ll have to grind them in the harder dungeons, or purchase them in specific dungeon stores.
Last, but certainly not least, we have Mega Evolutions. Only specific Pokemon, like Groudon or Charizard, even give you the option to do this. Those that do will require an Empowerment Seed to Mega Evolve, and you get them in dungeons or dungeon shops. Now, on the bright side, you can Mega Evolve Pokemon anywhere, not just in the Luminous Cave. On the not-so-bright side, that evolution only lasts until you complete the dungeon, so use them carefully.
