Metroid Dread Raven Beak Fight – How to Defeat Boss

In the first phase, Raven Beak has many attacks you need to watch out for. Each of these has a very specific method of countering and evading.

The first attack is a swipe with his claws. You can see this coming with a reddish glow and a drop of the enemy’s shoulders. This attack does not do a lot of damage. However, it can back you into a corner and lead into a combo, which will deal large amounts of hit points. Make sure you jump over and avoid it.

His next attack is a floating black orb. This is large so hard to avoid. If it lands, it will do a lot of damage. You need to shoot it four times with ice to destroy it. When it bursts open, it will drop extra missiles for you to use so it is an important attack.

While it can be tempting to keep your distance and fire off a barrage of missiles, one attack does make you get in close. This is a boss fight laser arc that erupts when Raven Beak places his hands over his head. It folds down over the entire battleground, and the only way to avoid it is to get in close. Drop off two shots with the launcher then get back to keeping your distance.

Once he glows gold you are entering into phase two. Carry on attacking until he laughs and tells you to come at him. Run and do two counterstrikes. A cutscene will knock off his armor and you are into phase two.

Phase Two Raven Beak

Raven Beak now has wings for the boss fight and takes to the air. In this mode, he has two main methods of attack. They are a 360-degree gun assault and an aerial swipe with a ground pound.

The swipe and ground pound are easily dodged. Slide under his attacks and keep firing. Once he hits the ground, fire a salvo of missiles, and prepare for his next attack.

He will then go into a 360 machine-gun attack. Dodge this with space jumps and dashes. As soon as you hit the ground, get in a few laser shots. Missiles are too slow here.

Raven Beak Phase Three

Phase three is a repeat of the first phase. Raven Beak uses his previous attacks from the boss fight, minus the 360-machine gun. You must watch out for them and adapt.

The most annoying part of this is the new golden power orb attack he sends out. This will hover in the air and send out pulse attacks. This limits your movement, making dodging and attacking harder. This will vanish eventually so find a good position to avoid it and wait it out.

Raven Beak also has a huge laser blast in this section. However, it does not add much threat. You can see it coming and jump over it. Keep on at him and you should finish him!

Thank you Mr. Jackson. I would like to contribute by letting you know that the golden power orb attack thing can be immediately destroyed by a power bomb, removing any threat from that move. It makes phase three quite a bit easier!
