How to Fix Sims 4 Descriptions and Names not Appearing

There are a few things you can do to try and fix the bug where descriptions and names are not appearing in Sims 4. Unfortunately, none of them are guaranteed to work. The fact of the matter is, this particular bug tends to happen after you install a new expansion pack. Maxis will release a hotfix or a patch at some point that will take care of the problem. Until then, here’s what you can do. First off, try repairing the game files. Open the launcher you use to play Sims 4, then right-click the game in your library and select whatever option does that on your launcher. On Steam, it’s Properties, then Local Files, and lastly you click Verify integrity of game files.

The other potential fix for the Sims 4 descriptions and names not appearing bug is to simply reinstall the game completely. I mean, down to deleting TS4.exe. Full scorched earth, then reinstalling everything from the ground up, so to speak. Obviously, be careful not to nuke any mods you might be playing Sims 4 with. As I’ve said, this is also not guaranteed to fix the problem. You might just have to wait for an official fix. In the meantime, you’ll just have to play blind. I’m sure it will lead to some hilarious results, if nothing else. Also, feel free to check out our other Sims 4 guides, like How to Make Nectar and How to Hire Ranch Hand.
