How to Fix Steam Error 29

So, you’ve received Error 29, it’s driving you crazy, and you want to know how to fix it? Luckily for you, there’s quite an easy solution for this. As always, before we jump to the potential solution, let’s first understand why this error is happening. Players usually receive this error when trying to log into some of the games on Steam, which require additional accounts asides from Steam. This is usually the case for many multiplayer games, which have their own systems to track progress, stats, competitive ladder, matchmaking, etc.

Players would launch a game, a pop-up window will prompt, asking them to log into their account for that game, and then they will receive Steam Error 29. This is the so-called “account linking” error. And it happens because your account related to that specific game is not correctly linked to your Steam account. Thus, you’ll need to check and ensure your game’s account and Steam are linked.

Now, this is different for individual games. But in general, you’ll need to visit the website of the game where you have an account(for example, Activision), log in, and find a page where you are connecting your account with Steam and other platforms (Twitch, PSN, Xbox, etc.). With that said, we’ve finished our “Steam Error 29 Fix” guide.

In my free time, I dream of the day when I will finally start clearing my Steam backlog.
