Preloading video games is one of those great quality-of-life options that we could only dream of back in our day (a long, long time ago). Doing this allows us to download the majority of the game several days before its release, so that we can play it practically the moment it is out. Most big releases have the option of pre-load nowadays, and Hogwarts Legacy is no different in this regard. The Deluxe Edition of the game, which allows for a 72h Early Access period ahead of the official release is out, and PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players have been able to pre-load the game days ago. But what about PC players? What is the preload date, time, and file size for the Hogwarts Legacy PC Deluxe Edition? That’s what we are here to answer.

Unfortunately, it appears that pre-loading won’t be an option if you are playing Hogwarts Legacy on the PC, regardless of if you purchased the game on Steam or the Epic Games Store. This applies both to the Standard and Deluxe Editions of the game. While this has been confirmed by the devs beforehand, they haven’t given an official reason why that is the case, only that the pre-load option isn’t an option for the PC version of the game.

This means that, when the PC Deluxe Edition is released, you are first going to have to download the entire game before you can play it. We understand that this is far from ideal, but that’s just the way it is. According to Steam, the game is around 85 GB in size. Hopefully, you won’t need to wait too long to play the game itself, regardless if you are playing the Standard or Deluxe Edition of Hogwarts Legacy.
