Hide Helmet Horizon Forbidden West Remove Headgear

We all want our characters to look as best as they can. And, for many players, how good an armor looks on our character is just as important as how well it can protect them. Of course, character customization options play a large part in this, even for a set character like Aloy in HFW. One particular option that has been added to many games in the last several years is to have the helmet (or other headgear) be hidden on a character. This allows us to see their full head of hair (and Aloy especially has beautiful red hair which is wonderfully animated), while also keeping all the stat benefits of a headpiece. The best of both worlds. We’ll show you how to do this in our Hide Helmet Horizon Forbidden West Remove Headgear guide.

How to Hide Headgear Horizon Forbidden West, Remove Helmet

Helmets are an iconic part of any battle armor set. After all, they protect the most important part of the body. However, sometimes they just don’t look right and we want to play without them. So, what’s the solution to this dilemma? To have the option to hide the headpiece, without taking off the rest of the outfit. If you want to do this in Horizon Forbidden West, the first thing you need to do is to go to the Settings menu. In here, find the General section tab. You will see the “Show Headpiece” option. Set it to off. When you return to the game, you will see that your headgear is no longer visible on Aloy.

Note that, with this option turned off, this applies to all armor sets, including the Nora Thunder Elite Outfit. If you want to once again have the helmet visible, all you need to do is go back and toggle it back on. One last thing to note here is that, for some reason, several outfits, like the Oseram’s armor sets that have a headband, won’t have this headband removed when you turn this option off. This might be an oversight or bug that will be fixed in a later patch.
