First murderer is a side mission in Mass Effect Andromeda. In it, you’ll have to investigate the murder of a colonist. The turian Nilken Rensus has been accused of doing the deed, and it’s up to you to prove his guilt or innocence. The quest is pretty straightforward, but the broader consequences of letting him go or convicting him aren’t. In this guide, we’re going to show you how to complete Mass Effect Andromeda First Murderer side quest, what happens if you exile or release Nilken.
How to complete First Murderer side mission
You can start the quest by talking to Mariette, the wife of the accused. She’ll ask you to look into the matter – she believes her husband is innocent. The investigation is pretty straightforward. You’ll have to talk to everyone involved, then head to Eos and look over the crime scene. Simply follow the map markers and scan the points they lead to – no real detective work is required.
After you’re done, SAM will let you know that Nilken in fact did not do it. He wanted to, though. After you talk to Director Tann, he’ll leave the final decision up to you.
If you decide to release Rensus, he’ll get community service for his part in the whole mess. When you talk to Mariette, she’ll be express her gratitude. When you warn Nilken to watch his behaviour, she’ll aks what you meant by it. He’ll avoid the question, and you’ll part ways.
Later, you’ll be able to find Nilken in the infirmary. If you talk to him, he’ll tell you he decided to ask Dr. Carlyle to put him back into stasis. He’ll reveal that Mariette left him after he told her the truth, and that everyone was still treating him as a murderer. You can choose to either kick him while he’s down, or sympathize with him at this point.
If you exile Rensus, he’ll be thrown out of the Nexus. If you talk to Kandros, he’ll tell you you made the right choice. You’ll be able to meet Rensus once again on Kadara, in the Govorkam system, where he’s trying to make a life for himself in exile.
