According to the trailer, the first bonus you’ll get is the Deep Space Explorer Armor. Presumably, this armor will give you an edge, at least in early game.

Next up, you’ll get a Multiplayer XP Booster Pack. Again, this will probably give you a pretty significant upper hand against other players.

Finally, there’s the Unique Nomad Skin. I have to admit, the Nomad does look pretty snazzy with that golden sheen. With this pre-order bonus, you’ll be the ultimate space pimp.

Overall, this doesn’t really seem like much. On the other hand, at least this package won’t create a huge difference between pre-ordering players and those who buy the game after it’s out. At least, not on the surface.

It’s interesting to note a huge outcry in the Mass Effect community over this trailer. At the time of writing, the video has over 50% dislikes on YouTube. The chief complaint seems to be that, even though we know fairly little about the game, EA is already pressing pre-order bonuses. Furthermore, players that have pre-ordered the game are getting lambasted in the comments.

The gaming community in general is very ill-disposed towards pre-order culture, and for good reason. In most cases, players end up shelling out for a game that turns out to be pretty substandard, and EA games are no exception from the rule, far from it. This kind of consumer mistrust has become so prevalent that not even a beloved franchise such as Mass Effect can get away with it. We’d love to hear your opinions about pre-orders in the comments. Will you be pre-ordering Andromeda?

Mass Effect: Andromeda comes out on March 21st on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
