Cuphead Sells Two Million Copies Across All Platforms

Cuphead is still going strong, almost three months after launch. So far, it has moved over two million units across all of the platforms that support it. This is after selling one million in the first two weeks after it came out. This might be due to all of the recent seasonal sales, but still, those are some pretty impressive numbers.

Cuphead Sells Two Million Copies Across All Platforms

To say that Cuphead turned out to be a huge hit is a complete understatement, and we all know this. What’s amazing is how strong the game is still going. Sure, it sold a million copies in the first two weeks, but it’s not showing any signs of stopping. According to a new post from the developers, Studio MDHR, Cuphead has now officially gone double-platinum. In other words, the game managed to sell two million copies, across all platforms. This is a huge success for any indie game. Take into account the fact that the only console it’s available on is the Xbox One, and the numbers become even more impressive.

What’s especially adorable to me is how the developers seem to be reacting to this development. If the blog post is anything to go by, they can barely wrap their heads around the fact. Here’s an excerpt: “Much to our shock and amazement, we can announce that Cuphead has now sold over 2 million copies across all platforms. Even in our wildest dreams, we never thought our crazy little characters would be embraced by this many fans from around the world and we are continuously humbled by your support.”

Of course, a lot of these numbers probably have to do with the series of holiday discounts that take place near the end of the year. That’s not to say that the game doesn’t deserve these numbers, far from it. It’s a lovely game, and I really hope that Cuphead keeps going strong.
