Dead or Alive 6, the next fighting game from Team Ninja (not to be confused with Dead or Alive Extreme, the premier boob jiggle projection software), is going to be released later than planned. The delay is a mere two weeks, and the additional time is going to be spend on further balancing. As we all know, a fighting game lives and dies by its balancing. That, and the fancy costumes.
The original launch date was supopsed to be February 15th, but the developers have decided to push it back to March 1st. Here’s what producer/director Yohei Shimbori had to say about the delay:
The title’s development is already near complete; however, we would like to take more time to further polish its balance, gameplay, and expressivity. In return for your patience, we commit to bringing you the best DEAD OR ALIVE gaming experience. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience caused by the release delay of DEAD OR ALIVE 6.
I like to imagine he shouted that last part from a mountain top. Obviously, two weeks aren’t going to do wonders for the balance – making these things feel right is a long and arduous process, and it takes deliberation, implementation and copious amounts of testing. It’s going to be little things here and there, but it might make for a better game. “Expressivity”, on the other hand, can either mean better signaling, which, again, is not something you can just do in two weeks, or BETTER TITS. Seeing how it’s Dead or Alive we’re talking about here, it’s probably the latter. Just look at how those pecs glisten in the image above.
Once March 1st rolls around, Dead or Alive 6 is going to hit the streets, simultaneously releasing on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
