Nintendo Switch Not Getting Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

It seems that Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon won’t be appearing on the Nintendo Switch, after all. Pokemon Direct recently listed the two games for both the 3DS and the Switch, leading to a lot of rumors. However, in a recent announcement, they said that the listing was a “clerical error”, and the games are only coming to the 3DS.

Nintendo Switch owners recently got a bit of a surprise. Pokemon Direct listed Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon as coming to the 3DS, as everybody knew it would. However, as you can see in the image, they also listed a Switch version, with the release date to be announced. Fans jumped at the news that they’ll be playing a new Pokemon game on their new, portable console.

However, the website removed the listing fairly quickly. They also released a statement, in which they blamed the listing on a “clerical error”. Sadly for all Switch owners, Pokemon Ultra Moon and Ultra Sun will only see the light of day on the 3DS. You can read the statement for yourself below (via Nintendo Life):

We would like to address rumours based on a clerical error on the Pokémon press site; Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon are coming exclusively to Nintendo 3DS family of systems and are not due for release on Nintendo Switch. This listing on the Pokémon press site was made in error and is not indicative of future plans. Please refer to the Pokémon Direct for the full details of the game.

So, there you have it. The Switch will remain pokemonless until further notice. Nintendo will probably bring the franchise to their new consoles fairly soon, but for now, the 3DS is you only option (not counting Pokemon GO, obviously). So, arm yourself with patience and make due with what the Switch has to offer so far.
