Stardew Valley Creator Working on Two New Projects

Eric Barone, the person behind indie darling Stardew Valley, has revealed that he’s working on two new games. Neither of them will be a farming game, but both will have some ties with the Stardew Valley world. In fact, one of them will take place directly in the same universe. Both projects still have some ways to go, but you can be sure they’ll be well-worth the wait.

I’ve been getting back into Stardew Valley lately, and enjoying it immensely, just like the first time around. So, imagine the delight of me and millions of other fans when the game’s creator, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone told a fan on Twitter that he’s working on two new games that will have ties with Stardew Valley: “… I’m actually working on a couple of new projects. One takes place in the world of Stardew Valley, but is not a farming game. The other, I’m not 100% sure about the world yet, but it will tie into Stardew Valley in some way.”

In an email to IGN, Barone unveiled some more details about the projects. He revealed that both games will be top-down 2D games with pixel art that will be familiar to Stardew Valley fans. However, they will have twice the detail of Valley. As Barone puts it: “In general, I’ve been approaching this game with the goal to surpass the quality of every aspect compared to Stardew Valley… art, music, sound, narratives, etc… and I think I have been achieving that so far. I just have to put in the 1000’s more hours of work necessary to finish it.”

Now, before we wrap up, I do have to bring up Barone’s request: “… all I ask is please don’t get too hyped at this stage. I want to avoid too much hype or speculation. I’d like to just make whatever game comes naturally to me without too much pressure or expectation.” I know it’s hard to not get excited, especially if you’re a fan of Barone’s work. But, let’s try and honor this, okay?
