NieR: Automata let’s you fight company CEOs in the upcoming DLC

NieR: Automata is probably the most interesting game of this year. Coming practically out of nowhere and raking in very solid reviews and pretty awesome sales, NieR Automata also had its share of problems. The latest came in the shape of a completely “broken” English text. Most recent surprise is the DLC that allows you to fight against – wait for it – Square Enix CEOs.

The add on that brings the new coliseum challenges which include the two new bosses is dubbed “3C3C1D119440927”. The bosses are actually the Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda and Platinum Games CEO Kenichi Sato. You even get a nice little message warning you that “What you’re about to see may end up destroying your sense of immersion”. This is followed by a question whether you are OK with this and a choice between “immersion schmimmersion” and “I most certainly am not”. Pretty straightforward choice right there.

Other things that the DLC brings include three coliseums on the map, with self-destructive robots guarding them. If you have met them before in the game, now you know why you were there. If you accept the coliseum challenges, you will not be able to use items in the arenas. The coliseum receptions quips “Can’t have a bunch of weaklings trying to bulldoze their way through without any strategy, can we?”.

Challenges can yield you new costumes, 9S gets the “Young Man’s Outfit”, A2 the “Destroyer Outfit” and 2B gets the “Revealing Outfit” (those who have played the original Nier will remember this outfit as Kaine’s). Other things include masks with unique effects, some new jukebox records, as well as hair dye, which is self-explanatory.

The DLC still has no official date of release, but it should be out “soon” on PS4 and Steam.
