How to Earn Platinum Kanto Medal Pokemon GO

To earn the Platinum Kanto Medal in Pokemon GO, you need to have all 151 Pokemon that appear in that region. Those are the original hundred and fifty-one, the very beginnings of the franchise (and, indeed, Pokemon GO itself). So, what you have to do is capture or evolve at least one Pokemon from #1 (Bulbasaur) to #151 (Mew). There’s a handy list of all of them on Bulbapedia; we are not going to name them all here. What we will say is that some of these are definitely way harder to catch than others. Of course, one of the most elusive is Mew, but there’s also region-locked Pokemon and more.

So, there you go, that’s how you earn the Pokemon GO Platinum Kanto Medal. It’s going to be a long, arduous task, let’s not kid ourselves. Some of the Pokemon required, like Mew and the legendary birds, do not appear in the wild at all. Instead, you have to wait for them to appear in Raids or specific events. So, if you want to earn this Platinum Medal, you’re in for a long journey. Then again, that’s kind of the point behind the highest tier of medal. And if you’ve been playing Pokemon GO on the regular, you’re probably close to completing the Kanto Pokedex already. I wish you the best of luck.

How to Catch All Kanto Region Pokemon in Pokemon GO

As I’ve said already, there are a number of Pokemon from the Kanto region that are really difficult to catch in Pokemon GO, and yet are necessary to get the Platinum Medal. If you don’t have a Mew yet, be sure to complete the Mythical Discovery Special Research quest that you unlock when you teach level 15. That’s not that bad. As for its “cousin” Mewtwo, you can encounter it occasionally in five-star Raids or after managing to beat Giovanni. Then we have the three legendary birds: Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. These creatures appear occasionally in five-star Raids, so keep your ears to the ground.

Next up, we have the four region-locked Pokemon: Tauros (North America), Mr. Mime (Europe), Kangaskhan (Australia) and Farfetch’d (East Asia). Unless you can trade with somebody whose recently been in those parts of the world, you have to wait for an event that will make them available worldwide. There are a few more Pokemon that might give you headaches, but these are the main problem-causers. Once again, I wish you all the luck in the world on this journey.
