How to Catch Zorua in Pokemon GO

UPDATE: Due to a bug, you might not be able to catch Zorua in Pokemon GO as originally intended. According to this Twitter thread, the caught Zorua “retains stats such as the height, CP, and attacks of the Pokémon it originally took on the form of.” That wasn’t supposed to happen. Therefore, “The Zorua surprise that occurred in time zones including and prior to GMT+13 will not occur in time zones after while we fix this.” Also, “Zorua already caught by Trainers will not be able to be Traded, sent to Pokémon HOME, or allowed in GO Battle League until this issue is resolved.” We’ll have to wait and see how the situation continues. Original text follows.

To catch and get Zorua in Pokemon GO, you are going to have to participate in the upcoming Shuppet Spotlight Hour. Reminder, the mini-event is going to take place on October 25th from 6 PM to 7 PM local server time. So, depending on when you’re reading this, it might even be too late in your timezone. I hope the article has reached you in time. Anyways, before the Spotlight Hour kicks off, be sure to set any Pokemon as your Buddy. It can even be a legendary Pokemon if you so choose. The point is, you want to have a Buddy in the first five minutes of the Spotlight Hour. The last five minutes might also work, but we can’t say that for sure.

So, to get and catch a Zorua in Pokemon GO, go outside and walk around with your buddy Pokemon in as soon as the Shuppet Spotlight Hour begins. Within the first five minutes, you should suddenly encounter a bunch of copies of your Buddy spawning. Like, a lot of them. Tap one of these Pokemon, and if everything is working properly, it will transform into Zorua, allowing you to attempt and catch it. I doubt it is going to take you more than just one shot, but if it does, the other copies of your Buddy are there. And that’s basically all there is to it. As for how you’ll be able to catch Zorua in the future, well, we’ll have to wait and see whether it’s gonna start spawning in the wild.
