How to Become Lucky Friends Pokemon GO 2023

To become Lucky Friends in the Pokemon GO 2023 Lunar New Year event, you first have to be Best Friends with people. Upon every first daily interaction with a person you’re Best Friends with, there’s a slim chance (about 1.17%) that you’ll become Lucky Friends. It’s completely random, so it will test your patience a bit. The odds will be increased during the event, which should help things. Any interaction can result in becoming Lucky Friends, including trainer battles, sending and opening gifts, trading, battling in Raids together, etc.

Now, you can become Lucky Friends with the same person more than once. Also, being Lucky Friends with a person before does not affect the odds of that happening again. Either way, once you become Lucky Friends, the next trade with them will result in a Lucky Pokemon for both sides. After that, the status disappears.

Can You Have Multiple Lucky Friends in Pokemon GO?

Yes, you can have multiple Lucky Friends in the 2023 Pokemon GO Lunar New Year event. Allow me to explain how come. As we’ve said in the previous section, the “roll” for Lucky Friends happens on your first interaction with a Best Friend. That doesn’t mean that you can only have one Lucky Friend, you see. Every time you have that first interaction with any Best Friend, the game rolls the metaphorical dice, regardless of whether you already have a Lucky Friend. Now, you still have to contend with the rarity of getting to be Lucky Friends, but it’s nice to know that you can have more than one. At least in theory.
