How to Defeat Tales of Arise Mantis Boss

To defeat the Mantis boss in Tales of Arise, the first thing to know is that you will probably not be able to beat the monster when you first meet it. You’ll be way, way too under-leveled. I mean, if you’re really good, you might be able to kill the bug at level ten, maybe a little less. If not, you should probably leave it for now and come back when you’re at least level 35 or so.

Now, the one thing to know about the battle against Mantis is that it’s a war of attrition. The creature’s health pool is massive, and if it hits you, it hits you hard. So, the idea is to attack a few times, then dodge and wait for the next opening. Take your time if you need it. Sure, if you manage to defeat Mantis in under five minutes, you can then fight the secret Mesmald boss, but forget about that for now.

So, to defeat the Tales of Arise Mantis boss, you need to know about its weaknesses. The main body part you should go for is the left foreleg. If you attack it consistently, you’ll be able to knock the monster down for a few seconds and deal some “free” damage. Also, Mantis is very weak to Air Astral Artes, so switch to Air attacks on every character (Severing Wind, Orochi Galeforce Fury, and the like).

Other than that, just be careful and fight smart. Heal regularly, use your boost attacks and Mystic Artes carefully, and dodge often. You might need a little practice, but you’ll get it eventually.
