Tekken 7 Gets New Story Trailer, Mishima Saga to Conclude

Long-time fans of the Tekken series are certainly more than familiar with the ongoing Mishima clan feud. The story is incredibly convoluted, as fighting game stories that span across multiple titles tend to be. The super-short cliff notes are: Heihachi Mishima tried to kill his son Kazuya upon learning that Kazuya has the Devil Gene, which gives him demonic powers. Kazuya survived, and is now out to kill his father. Kazuya has a son, Jin Kazama, who also carries the gene and is therefore a large part of this family feud. Yes, this is overly simplified, but the full version is way too complicated.

No Glory for Heroes, the new story trailer for Tekken 7, foreshadows the climax of this long-running battle between three generations of a family. It seems that we’ll get the backstory of the Devil Gene through the story of Heihachi’s wife Kazumi Mishima. Akuma, the guest character from Street Fighter, will play an integral role in the grand finale of this soap opera-turned-tournament fighter.

Of course, there are many other characters in the expansive Tekken lore, each one of them fighting for their own cause. Those interested in the story will have the complete Story Mode to look forward to. The mode will also feature side chapters for the fighters that are outside the Mishima clan.

Tekken 7 is coming out on June 2nd, 2017, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’ll also be the first game in the franchise to make its way to PC.
