Bethesda released a new trailer for their upcoming FPS romper, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. Members of the developing team MachineGames give us more insight into the world of the game, the main character, and the overall plot. As Creative Director Jens Matthies points out, The New Colossus is a direct sequel to Wolfenstein: The Old Blood:

The New Colossus is a direct sequel. It picks up immediately where the last one left off. We’ve constructed the game in a way that new players will catch up quickly and get what the game is about. For returning players, of course, they will know all of the backstory. They will just be able to flow right into the narrative of this game.

While The Old Blood explored the alternate history of Nazi-controlled Europe, The New Colossus brings the fight to America. It’s 1961, and Nazis have taken over the USA. The setting of early-sixties Americana with a thick layer of Nazi Germany is a really cool and terrifying concept. Meanwhile, our hero BJ Blazkowicz is getting back on his feet after the events of the previous games. Literally, since he’s in a wheelchair the first time we see him.

The struggle has never been more personal. Not only have the Nazis subjugated his homeland, but Blazkowicz’s wife is pregnant with twins, and damned if he will raise his children in this dystopian world. Terror-Billy, as the Nazis call him, will have to connect with the already-existing resistance movement to fight off the enemy and keep his family safe. You can check out the full trailer below.
