One of the many things that BotW and Tears of the Kingdom do correctly is that in-game money actually matters. In TOTK, Rupees are scarce, while ways to spend them are countless. You will appreciate every single rupee you earn and will think twice before spending it on anything. Hence, from the very early stages of the game, you will want to be as efficient as possible. So, what are the best rupee farming strategies in Zelda TOTK, to make a lot of money early?

The main and the most important rule is to mine ores! It’s much easier to do this in TOTK, as you can fuse a rock onto any weapon and create a tool for mining ores. Farming these precious stones will net you a lot of Rupees in TOTK. They sell for lucrative prices and are a very effective way of earning rupees fast in TOTK. Consequently, make sure to go spelunking as much as you can! Caves are rich in precious ore and will often hide some hidden treasures. Whenever you see a cave, make sure to explore it and loot its riches! Speaking of selling ores, if you are not in a hurry for money, sell them to Ramella, the Gerudo merchant in Goron City. She likes to buy Ore in bulk and will pay significantly extra if you sell her 10 of the same Ore items at once.

Don’t waste materials and food! If you want to do proper rupee farming in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, eating basic food is never a good thing. Instead, learn expensive recipes and cook profitable meals to sell. Since you find ingredients all around you, this can be a massive stable boost to your income. Furthermore, sell your Amibbo outfits! Each can net you 600 rupees, and you can always find those outfits in-game.

Small spoiler: After the Wind Temple, head to the flight platform. The advanced course there costs 20 rupees, but it gives you 300 for the first clear and 100 rupees for every subsequent clear. You can find it just to the left of the tower near Rito Village. Finally, make sure not to skip any side adventure. They are a lot more interesting now, and they pay much better.
