Zelda TOTK Riju of Gerudo Town Standing Back to Back with the Throne

The first step of the Riju of Gerudo Town in Zelda TOTK or Tears of the Kingdom is to solve this riddle: “Standing back-to-back with the throne, witness red pillars across a vast sea. Unite the pillars in light to reveal the lightning stone and open the way You who can hear my voice, come to me. I await you.” That is, after you meet Riju at a mural in the underground shelter after freeing Gerudo Town. That part is easy, since you just follow the quest marker. After looking at the mural, go back to her throne and behind the large walrus. Turn your back to the throne as instructed, and you’ll see a building made of three pillars. Head over there and climb onto the bottom platform. Break the rocks to release the light beam.

Step #2 of the Zelda TOTK Riju of Gerudo “Standing back-to-back with the throne” quest is to go where the light beam is pointing towards, which is a second set of pillars. Trouble is, the light can’t hit them becaose they are too low. Luckily, you’ll find another tall structure nearby, with a crank on top. You need to spin it counterclockwisem and that will raise the pillars from the ground. When they reach a certain height, they will reflect the light in a third direction. Naturally, you need to go there next. You’ll find yet another structure, with a pile of materials on one level and a crank at the very top. You need to get one piece of wood up to the crank with a combination of Ascension and Ultrahand. Attach the to the crank and turn it counterclockwise to move the ray of light until it forms a triangle with the other rays.

All that’s left is to go to the altar that rose out of the sand in the center of the triangle. After another cutscene, talk to Riju. She will tell you that you need the power of lightning. So, fire a lightning arrow (or a lightning bolt) at the metal glyph. That’s where we’ll leave off.
