That’s because this fish is a required material in order to repair this gear. Namely, Sidon’s fiancee, Yona, will need it in order to bring it back to its full power. She’ll tell you to speak with Dento the Blacksmith. He’s located at exactly the same place as in the first game. In one of the shops at the lower level, working at his workbench.

If you chat with Dento the Blacksmith, he proposes you check for some Ancient Arowana in the small pond near Mipha’s statue, which is at the apex of Ploymus Mountain. That’s at Mipha Court. The Sidon quest will naturally lead you that way, as you need to meet Sidon there. However, we propose a better solution here!
