Hybrid Flowers in Animal Crossing New Horizons - Crossbreeding Flowers

Hybrid flowers are a mix of two base colors of a flower in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Creating hybrid flowers is easy, and allows you to have a more vibrant and colorful garden with little effort. Sadly, it’s restricted to flowers of the same species – you can’t mix roses and pansies, for instance. If you’re wondering how crossbreeding flowers works, this guide will show you how to create hybrid flowers in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

How to create hybrid flowers?

Your first step is to make sure you have several batches of either seeds or full grown flowers – they should all be the same kind, but different colors. You can buy the seeds from Timmy if you need them. Then you need to plant them in such a way that there’s always one free space between each two. Once you’ve planted the flowers, you’ll need to water them every day. After a while, a hybrid flower should appear in the free space. There’s no telling how much time it’ll take, so be patient. Or use time travel, like everyone else does for every little thing.

Crossbreeding flower combinations

The flower of the hybrid will depend on the flowers it grow between. We’ve only tried it with roses, so we can’t guarantee it’s the same for other kinds, but here are the combinations we’ve seen:

  • White + red = pink
  • Yellow + red = orange
  • Yellow + white = purple
  • Red + red = black
  • White + white = purple
  • Purple + orange = hybrid red
  • Hybrid red + hybrid red = blue

If you know of some other combinations, or whether these recipes work with other flowers, like tupis and pansies, do let us know in the comments and we’ll update the guide. In the meantime, we’ll keep planting the flowers we have in specific formations, hoping to uncover a new hybrid.
