CD Projekt Red haven’t exactly been tight-lipped about the map of Night City. One of the first things we saw in the first major trailer they released is a subway map of the whole place. Since then, they’ve talked at relative length about the different districts and the desert surrounding the city, aka the Badlands. However, there haven’t been many opportunities to take a good, long look at the entire map. Until now, that is.
As you might now, the physical edition of Cyberpunk 2077 comes with a printout of the full map of Night City. Fortunately for all of us, some enterprising person from Resetera posted an image of it. It’s not necessarily the highest resolution in the world, but it’s more than enough to get the general idea of it. We have a large city, six distinct districts, the works. Here it is, in all it’s glory. Well, you do have to click on it to enlarge it, but you get the idea.
Now, I know what some of you are thinking – this isn’t exactly as big as the Witcher 3 map. Well, yes, that’s true. CDPR has said as much – purely surface-wise, the size of Night City will not match the girth from their previous effort. However, the operating words here are “dense” and “vertical.” The Witcher 3 map is huge, but there we’re large swathes of mostly nothing, where you just kinda ride on Roach and enjoy the sights. Maybe a few wolves or monsters on the way, but not much else.
Night City, on the other hand, will probably have something on and around every single corner, teeming with life and opportunities to make a mess. Also, the place is full of high-rises, so your opportunities for adventure will multiply more on the Y axis rather on the X axis. I’m sure Cyberpunk 2077 won’t skimp on content, is what I’m saying.
