Cyberpunk 2077-Inspired Game Breach Launches Today

It seems like the October surprise is not only reserved for the elections. Bandai Namco have revealed a new project that they’ve been keeping under wraps. The game is called Breach, and it’s inspired by CDPR’s Cyberpunk 2077. In it, you play as a Netrunner, and you’ll have to compete and co-operate with/against others to potentially win some big prizes. Breach is available on iOS and Android starting today. The only catch? You can only play it in four Nordic countries – Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.

And before you get any bright ideas to fire up your VPN, the press release calls Breach a “location-based hacking game,” which sounds to me like you have to visit specific place IRL. With that said, what’s the actual point of Breach? Well, technically, it’s a competition that will last until November 19th. The ultimate prize is “a brand-new Xbox Series X from Microsoft and a 65″ Q80T QLED Smart 4K TV from Samsung.” Only one winner per country, mind you.

How do you become the winner? Well, it’s simple – you have to be the one with the most money at the end of the contest. You get Eddies, aka Eurodollars, by “breaking into systems and stealing everything of value, trading with other players online, and decrypting data, moving around the real-world to locate targets.” Of course, there will also be weekly challenges to complete, so there’s that, too. Just keep in mind that this game is it’s own thing; it doesn’t represent what Cyberpunk 2077 will look and play like.

And, well, there you have it. You can find the link to the game in the launch trailer below. Mind you, the trailer shows you exactly nothing of the gameplay, or anything at all. They’re playing their cards real close to the vest. So, yeah, if you’re from one of the four countries, and this whole shebang seems interesting for you, go ahead and give Breach a go. Good luck, netrunners!

Yes it’s pretty much another “go outside and find things” game with the perfect laugh weather of pretty much constant autumn rain.

This might just be the funniest comment we’ve ever gotten.

Eh, got autocorrected to laugh instead of launch but that’s what I write more often I guess. Severe dyslexia isn’t easy to fix. But it’s definitely a great idea to launch a game all about going outside during autumn when it’s known to pour down rain for days on end. Even when you don’t take autumn storms into account. I mean at least the competition stops before it gets so cold outside that phones literally stop working for more than five minutes. Maybe. November is known to have extremely unreliable weather and it could freeze over way before then, but hey, at least Denmark lies more to the south and they might still be able to play? It’s almost like they’ve never been here or something for it to launch during the most unreliable weather time of the year, or perhaps they want you to really suffer and maybe need to buy a new phone in the process? Smartphones have never worked very well in freezing temperatures, so for a few months a year outside. At least they’re backlit considering it’s also almost pitch black most of the time in certain places during that time, unless you live in a city where there’s streetlights everywhere. Autumn weather is still the most comfortable temperature, it’s just the extremely unpredictable weather where it’s far from guaranteed that it’s going to be clear or cloudy. Not to mention the “stay inside for your own safety because of the wind” occasionally as well. Well it’s not like we can cut down all of the forests just because trees occasionally crush cars or block roads, then there’s nothing to slow down the wind and it would be like being on open water, which you most definitely don’t do when the wind gets that strong unless you want to end up wherever the wind takes you. Definitely the perfect time to encourage people to go outside more. Way. To. Go. Yay.
