Cyberpunk 2077 Offers Three Origins & Starting Locations

According to the lead quest designer, Cyberpunk 2077 is going to start branching somewhat already at the start. While making your character, you’ll be able to choose between three lifepaths, which will influence how you’ll begin in the world of Cyberpunk. The choices between Street Kid, Nomad, and Corpo, and, depending on what you choose, you’ll have a different starting point, and a different prologue.

In an email to VG24/7, lead quest designer for Cyberpunk 2077 Paweł Sasko spoke just a little bit about how the game is going to start. Apparently, you’ll be able to pick between three different backgrounds for your character, aka lifepaths. The choice is between Corpo (short for Corporate), Street Kid, and Nomad. This means that there will be three different playable prologues. Your character will probably end up in the same place eventually, in the warm embrace of Keanu Reeves. How you get there, on the other hand, will probably vary from lifepath to lifepath.

This also confirms something that Reddit has already been speculating about, but I personally didn’t believe would be the case. Namely, depending on which lifepath you choose, you’ll start the game in a different place. Also, your story background is going to be different. As Sasko writes: “Each of that Lifepaths has a different starting location and story background that are strongly connected with the origin story.” So, we can assume, based on what we know about Nomads, that they will start in the Badlands, while the Corpo and Street Kid will start in the city. However, I doubt that the Corpo and the Street Kid are gonna start on equal footing.

And that’s all we’ve got so far. Sasko didn’t want to go into any further details, to avoid any spoilers. So, I guess we’ll have to wait until April 16th, 2020, when Cyberpunk 2077 is going to come out. When it does, you’ll be able to play it on PC (via GOG, if you so wish), Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
