Will Existing Characters Get Deleted in Diablo 4 Season 1

Every Diablo fan (or any action RPG fan, for that matter) knows how hard and meticulous the process of building your character is. You spend weeks grinding and levelling up while striving to make the perfect version of your envisioned build. And that’s exactly why many players are worried about what will happen with their launch characters in D4 Season 1. Namely, there is some misunderstanding regarding Diablo IV Seasonal Characters. Hence, let’s break down all you need to know about your Diablo 4 character progress in Season 1. Let’s start with the most important answer. No, your old characters will not get deleted in Diablo 4 Season 1.

It has been confirmed that existing characters do not get deleted when a new season starts! Hence, don’t worry; they are safe! However, old characters can not be used on the seasonal servers. If you want to participate in a new season, you will need to create a new character(s) for that season. Old characters can only be played on non-Seasonal Servers, known as the Eternal Realm. Here are the most important facts regarding Seasonal and non-Seasonal Characters, courtesy of Reddit user clueso87:

  • Your old characters will not get deleted in Diablo 4 Season 1.
  • When a season ends, current characters and items (both from the Stash and on your characters) are transferred to the Eternal Realm.
  • Characters and items on Eternal Realm and seasonal servers are completely separated and they can not interact with each other.
  • New Seasonal Characters need to be levelled up again, but you don’t need to play the campaign each season.
  • Unlocked Waypoints of Major Cities and Altars of Lilith are being transferred into the new season.
  • Seasonal Battle Pass can only be progressed with new Seasonal Characters.
