What to Choose in Ghost of Tsushima Lord Shimura Defend Yourself Choice – Lure Him In or Strike First?

When Lord Shimura asks the young Jin how he would defend himself, Ghost of Tsushima gives you a time-limited choice between two options – lure him in or strike first. As far as we can tell, it makes no difference what you choose. This whole section serves as nothing more but a combat tutorial and a way to get to know the character of Lord Shimura. Since you’re so early on in the game, it’s not going to throw life-altering choices at you. So, when it comes to potential late-game consequences, don’t sweat it.

Now, of course, since Ghost of Tsushima does have some light RPG elements, like all third-person PS4 exclusives, there is an element of role-playing to consider in the Lure Him In or Strike First choice. What kind of character is your Jin going to be? That’s something to think about. That’s especially important in low-stakes choices such as these, where you get to form your very own Jin as a person without having to worry about consequences. Would your Jin be the kind of warrior to strike first or to lure his enemy with patience and bravura?

So, to summarize; whether you choose Lure Him In or Strike first when Lord Shimura asks about defending yourself makes no difference, practically speaking. It does, however, have some meaning to you personally and what kind of person you want Jin to be. So, feel free to choose whatever you think the correct answer is; the game won’t penalize you for it.
