How to Complete Stormy Night 2 in Dave the Diver

Chapter Six is the penultimate chapter of the story of Dave the Diver. At the very beginning of the mission, Sato will arrive to inform you about the new vortex that has appeared. This will trigger the Stormy Night 2 side mission. This vortex usually appears at a depth of about 35 meters. Once you spot it, you can dive in whenever you want.

Keep in mind that this side mission includes a rather scary boss fight against an enormous Mantis Shrimp. Mantis Shrimps in real life are known for their extremely hard-hitting punches, which create a bubble as hot as the surface of the sun! And in the Dave the Diver Stormy Night 2 mission, you’ll have to deal with these punches.

How to Beat Mantis Shrimp in Dave the Diver

Like with most bosses in video games, beating the giant Mantis Shrimp in Dave the Diver boils down to learning the pattern of attacks and other behaviour. The grab has a massive “punch” attack, which is usually telegraphed before it occurs, so try to avoid it. In order to defeat it, you must hit the monster’s eyes. Keep in mind that you need a clear hit. Hence, look for opportunities when the Mantis Shrimp lowers its guard.

Mantis Shrimp’s second attack is a strong current which it creates by moving backwards and whipping around rapidly. This follows a powerful charging attack which you need to avoid but also try to avoid an even stronger current that this creates. The goal of the current is to push you towards a wall of spikes on the left side of the screen.

After the charging attack, the Mantis Shrimp will pause for a little bit, and that’s when you need to grab the hanging chain and pull it up in order to bring the yellow bell-like thing up. The Mantis will hit this, and that will stun the beast. This is your best opportunity to deal as much damage as you can before it comes back.
