How to Fix EA FC 24 Controller Not Working on PC Issue

The EA FC 24 early access launch has just kicked off on both consoles and PC, with hundreds of thousands of fans around the world who enjoy the game. And while most of them are having a blast, some are unfortunately experiencing various issues. For example poor performance or the AntiCheat error. And when you finally deal with these issues and start playing the game, there’s more. Namely, it seems that for many players, the controller is simply not working for EA FC 24 on Steam (PC).

“My controller is working perfectly fine in the menu, but the second I get into the game, only my keyboard works,” says Discord user Gotcha. “And in settings, there’s a spot to change what I use in-game, but it only has a keyboard, keyboard + mouse, or just a mouse.” And he’s just one of many players with similar issues. For some players, the controller is not working at all in FC 24 on PC. For others, it works in the Menu but not while playing. Finally, some players report the controller is “bugging out and flicking around the place”. For now, the best solution we can offer to you is to turn off Steam input. Here’s how to do it:

  • Right-click on EA FC 24 in your Steam library.
  • Select “Properties”.
  • Head to “Controller”.
  • Under “Override for EA FC 24”, in the drop-down menu, select “Disable Steam Input”.

Check Battery Level and USB Cable

Sometimes, the controller might not work properly because it has a low battery or a faulty cable. To check the battery level, press and hold the PS button on the controller and look at the indicator on the screen. If it is low, plug the controller into a power source using the USB cable that came with it. Make sure the cable is not damaged or loose. If the cable is broken, you might need to replace it with a new one.

Reset the Controller

If the battery and the cable are fine, but the controller still does not work, you might need to reset it. To do this, locate the small hole on the back of the controller near the L2 button. Use a paper clip or a similar object to press and hold the reset button inside the hole for about five seconds. Then, reconnect the controller to your console and see if it works.

Update the Controller Firmware

Sometimes, the controller might not work because it has outdated firmware. To update it, you need to connect it to a computer using a USB cable. Then, go to EA’s website and download the latest firmware for your controller model. Follow the instructions on how to install it on your device. After that, reconnect the controller to your console and check if it works.

Contact EA support

If none of the above solutions work, you might have a defective controller that needs to be repaired or replaced. In that case, you should contact EA’s customer support and explain your problem. They might ask you to send them your controller for inspection or offer you a replacement or a refund.
