Server downtime is always a frustrating thing about online games. We’ve all been there – we want to log into our favorite game, only to find out that the servers are currently down. Of course, often there are very good reasons why this is happening. For example, Final Fantasy XIV is currently undergoing planned maintenance and its servers are down. If you are not aware of why this is happening and how long it will last, our Final Fantasy XIV Maintenance and Server Downtime guide is here to clear up any questions concerning this you may have.
How Long is FFXIV Maintenance – When Will Servers be Up
The server downtime and game maintenance is scheduled to begin today, Monday, April 3rd, 2023, at 10 AM GMT / 11 AM BST / 8 PM AEST. According to developer Square Enix, it will take exactly 24 hours until all of the changes and updates to the game are implemented. During that period, you won’t be able to access and play the game, as it is going to be offline. This means that you can expect to be able to play the game again on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023, at 10 AM GMT / 11 AM BST / 8 PM AEST. That is, if no problems should occur on their end during this downtime. And if that happens, then we may need to wait even longer.
The reason why the downtime is occurring is because they are implementing a new patch to the game and and updating it to v6.38 and taking the opportunity to replace the equipment for the North American Data Centre and perform routine maintenance. And, for that, the servers need to be down for a while. Specifically, in this case – for an entire day. As such, there isn’t anything to do but wait and be patient until the servers are once again back online.
