How To Play Back 4 Blood Solo

Currently, if you try to play Back 4 Blood alone, you will see that this option is greyed out and unavailable. This makes sense, because, this being the beta, developers Turtle Rock Studios want to have as many people playing in multiplayer as possible. This will allow them to see how the game behaves and plays, if there are any bugs, and to generally collect as much useful data that will let them tinker with the game to have it as good as possible in time for its full release. However, this is at odds with what it says in the official FAQ: “Yes, the Back 4 Blood campaign can be played solo with three A.I. teammates and includes online drop-in and drop-out co-op with up to three friends. Please note, an internet connection is still required to play Back 4 Blood solo.”

Luckily, there is a way that you can play by yourself. All you have to do is to set your Privacy Settings from Open to Closed. Now when you enter the game, other players will be controlled by bots. Of course, this isn’t a viable substitute for the real thing, as these bots don’t have particularly sophisticated AIs, and are constantly letting the Ridden get too close without firing at them, but if you really want to play solo, well, you can through this method. If, for some reason, you are having problems doing this, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Beta. This worked for some players. However, that didn’t work for other players, who are still persistently getting the “Matchmaking failed. Failed to matchmake. The group doesn’t meet the requirements.” error message in spite of this.
