ME: Andromeda Endings

In an interview for Game Informer’s podcast, creative director at BioWare Mac Walters dropped some hints about the endings in Andromeda. Of course, he wouldn’t reveal too much, since the game is still in development, but we can pick something out of his answers. You can watch the full video below.

The first thing we can conclude based on what Walters said, which ending you get will hinge largely on what you do. Not only your narrative decisions, but your gameplay decisions will determine your ultimate fate. Considering that loyalty missions are coming back, it’s reasonable to assume that they will be deciding factors, as well.

Next, they’re going for a huge and impactful ending in Andromeda, just like in the original Mass Effect. Compared to the infamous ending of the third installment, this is more than welcome. Fortunately, Andromeda is a completely clean slate, allowing for much more creative freedom. However, the choice won’t be as streamlined as in the first game. Instead, it will have more nuances and variations, going back to Mass Effect 2.

There’s one more interesting point to address. When asked whether players should keep their save files, Walters answers that it wouldn’t hurt. He continues to talk about Andromeda as a future series. They’re not sure yet if the story will be a trilogy per se, but a series will definitely happen. He also says that key elements, such as Pathfinders and The Ryder twins themselves, will feature in the coming games. This could mean that the Ryders will survive the ending of Mass Effect Andromeda no matter what. Um, spoiler alert, I guess?

Mass Effect Andromeda is coming out on March 21st in North America and March 23rd in Europe for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
