Middle-Earth: Shadow of War Monsters of Mordor Trailer Released

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War got a trailer a while ago, called Monsters of Mordor. The video serves to highlight some of the many vicious creatures that Talion and Celebrimbor will have to face. The list includes spiders, caragors, graugs, ghuls, drakes (lesser dragons, which you can ride), the ancient Balrog Tar Goroth, and a shape-shifting nature spirit called Carnán.

As we inch closer to the launch of Shadow of War, Warner Brothers continue to tease fans with little bits and pieces of the game’s features. One such serving of bits and pieces is the Monsters of Mordor trailer. As the name implies, it serves mainly to show off some of the monsters (other than orcs, obviously) that Talion and Celebrimbor will run into on their adventures, deep behind enemy lines.

As you’d expect from Shelob being a major character, spiders are a part of the bestiary. If the trailer is anything to go by, it would seem that Shelob’s children will aid Talion sometimes. The usual suspects include ghuls, graugs, and caragors, the latter of which you’ll still be able to tame and ride. However, we also get to see the drakes in action. They are lesser versions of the likes of Smaug, much more animal-like. The best part is, you’ll also be able to ride them and decimate your opponents with fire.

Then, we come to the more important monsters. First, we have a Balrog called Tar Goroth. He is the commander of Sauron’s armies, and probably one tough enemy. Luckily for Talion, it seems that, during the game, him and Celebrimbor forge an alliance with a spirit of nature called Carnán. Not unlike Shelob, she is a shape-shifter, and can take the form of various deadly beasts. She comes to their aid during the battle against the Balrog.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War comes out on October 10th, 2017, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check out the Monsters of Mordor trailer below.
