Where to Find Saltpeter in New World
When you start the game, you will spawn in one of several starting Territories. The most reliable way to find some saltpeter is to follow the main quest. When you arrive at the main City of your starting Territory, you will receive a quest to go to a nearby cave and kill the Corrupted Chamberlain there. The exact name and location of the cave changes depending on which Territory you are in, but the quest is always essentially the same, and the cave is always close to town. It is here that you will find saltpeter. Search the cave until you have found some. Generally, the best way to find and farm this resource is in caves such as this.
How to Use Saltpeter to Craft Gunpowder
Now that you’ve found some saltpeter, the next step is to use it to create gunpowder. Go to the town where you received the quest to kill the Corrupted Chamberlain. Look for a Workshop there. You need to use the Workshop in order to craft gunpowder. You will find Gunpowder under Engineering Components. To create it, you will need: x5 Charcoal, x2 Flint, and x1 Saltpeter. After that, you will be able to craft bullets with the following materials: x4 Iron Ingot, x1 Linen, and x1 Gunpowder.
