Borderlands 3 Planet Athenas Revealed & Detailed

Athenas is one of the many planets that we’ll get to visit in Borderlands 3. According to the promo material, it’s a mystical place full of secrets and temples built by ancient races. Places like these tend to have a mysterious order of monks, so Athenas gets one of those, too. Top it off with a corporation trying to uncover the secrets that the monks are hiding, and you have quite the mess to untangle.

Borderlands 3 Planet Athenas Revealed & Detailed

In a somewhat stark contrast to the likes of Eden-6, Athenas is a much more serene place. According to the reveal on the Borderlands website, it is a “misty, tranquil planet” that lies mostly uninhabited. That is, aside from the monks of the Order of the Impending Storm. They live in ancient temples at the highest peaks of Athenas. Supposedly, they keep the secrets of the Universe. True or not, rumors like that tend to attract some unwanted attention, and it’s no different in this case.

As you can see in this Twitter video, it seems that weapons manufacturer from Pandora, the Maliwan corporation, has started an invasion of Athenas. Their army includes some fun stuff, like sleek, panther-like robotic beasts and hulking humanoids with chainsaws on each arm. One assumes that your mission will be to protect the monks and the secrets they hold from the greedy hands of the corporation. Very current, Borderlands 3, I have to admit. However, make no mistake; Maliwan is certain to put up some heavy opposition.

Borderlands 3 is coming out on Friday, September 13th, 2019. You can pre-order it on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, if you tend to do stuff like that. On PC, the game is gonna be an exclusive for the Epic Games Store for six months post-launch, which tends to upset people. So, keep that in mind if PC is your platform of choice. On top of all that, Borderlands 3 is also going to come out on Google Stadia.
