Citadel: Forged With Fire Will Let You Ride a Broom

Blue Isle Studios, the development team behind Slender: The Arrival, has just announced their next game. It’s called Citadel: Forged With Fire, and it’s an online sandbox RPG which will let you ride a broom. There’s a trailer to go with the announcement, too.

You’re going to play the role of a newly initiated mage apprentice, trying to make a name for yourself in the land of Ignus. You’ll do that by exploring the land, learning to wield new kinds of magic, building an ivory tower from which you’ll command your Orcish armies, taming beasts, engaging in politics and crafting, because what’s a game without crafting.

The game will be set on a 36 square kilometer map, with half a dozen distinct biomes. That’s why you’ll need your trusty broom – it’s a long walk across Ignus. Apart from the usual fireball slinging, it seems the game will feature some more interesting spells as well, such as telekinesis, which allows you to hurl buildings at your opponents.

The rest of it sounds very much like Ark meets Harry Potter. You’ll be able to tame fantastical beasts and keep them as either pets or mounts, you’ll team up with others to build strongholds to protect what’s yours and attack others because why should they have a prettier castle?

Apparently, brooms won’t be the only means of flight. Flying mounts like dragons and eagles will be present, as well as potions that let you do the Superman flight, with the fist and all.

Citadel: Forged With Fire is going to launch as an Early Access title on July 26th. There’s going to be a closed beta before the launch – if you’re interested in taking it for a spin, head on over to the official site and sign up for it.
