Mortal Kombat 11 Shang Tsung Reveal Trailer Confirms DLC Characters

Shang Tsung is one of the most iconic characters in the Mortal Kombat franchise, and it’s so cool to see him come back. And, as we can clearly see from the reveal trailer, he has retained his famous powers. Specifically, in MK11, he has combos and moves where he turns into the classic ninjas: Sub Zero, Scorpion, Rain, Smoke, etc. He can also turn into his opponent, with the same move set. This might be two different variants, but we’ll have to wait until June 18 at the earliest and see. And, of course, he also has his powers, including fireballs that come out of the ground, and more.

As for me, the fact that they’ve kept the likeness of Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as the young Shang Tsung is the best part. They’ve clearly used his performance from the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie, and I couldn’t be happier about it. The final shot of him saying “You’re soul is mine” is a direct recreation of one of the shots from the movie. There’s fan service galore, and I admit, I’m a complete sucker for stuff like that. On the other hand, how he summons Kintaro to rip apart his opponent from the inside, I do not know. That’s a new one.

Now, the trailer does reveal even more than just Shang Tsung. We also got to see almost all the DLC characters that those that hold the Kombat Pack will have (one week early) access to. Of course, everybody will get to buy them eventually. The characters we know are coming, aside from Shang Tsung, are Sindel, Nightwolf, and Spawn. Plus, there will be two more “guests” to look forward to. We don’t know exactly who they’re gonna be, but word on the street is The Terminator and Ash from Evil Dead (even though the actor denied such rumors).
