New Assassin’s Creed game may not be called Empire, but Origins

We have talked recently at two occasions about the rumors regarding the new Assassin’s Creed game. The Swiss retail page showed the name as “Empire” and it seemed to make sense. Now, a source close to Ubisoft seems to claim the actual name will be “Origins”.

AC: Syndicate featured two main characters, which should be repeated in Origins, claims sources.

Of course, rumors are running wild this close to E3, however, this is first info that bears any semblance to having actual people behind it. So, let us take a look at what we have here. Supposedly, there will be a “vast open world experience” which is something that we have gathered by now. Set in Egypt – again, nothing new here, this has been heard before. As far as settings go, ancient Egypt is great because it is instantly familiar to everyone, while at the same time very much unknown.

Earlier rumors have talked about the name of the game being Empire, while the new ones claim it is Origins. If the tale is indeed going to be the one about the origins of the Assassin’s guild, then the latter makes more sense. The source says that there will be a possibility to travel even outside of Egypt, to other ancient countries, such as Greece, which would make sense. This should include sea travel, ships and naval combat, which has been sorely missed in the last two games.

There was no Assassin’s Creed title in 2016 and this was a good thing. Now, it would appear that the public is ready for more. If the game is in late development stage, we can expect some serious stuff being shown at E3 2017. Also, the usual time for Assassin’s Creed games to launch is October, which would give them plenty of time to finish the game following a potential E3 announcement.
