Styx: Shards of Darkness is the Best Game of January Xbox Games with Gold Pack

Microsoft announced games that are coming to the Xbox Games with Gold subscription in January and this month they aren’t half bad. The deal includes Stys: Shards of Darkness and Telltale’s Batman (all five episodes of the season) for the Xbox One. Xbox 360 games (which are always backwards compatible with Xbox One) you can pick up during January are Tekken 6 and Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy.

Styx: Shards of Darkness is an excellent budget title. It is a sequel to 2014’s Styx: Master of Shadows and puts you again into the boots of Styx, a sneaky little goblin. This is one of the best stealth games of the last couple of years and if you miss Sam Fisher you should check this one out. Next, we have a solid if a bit repetitive Batman the Telltale Series. The game’s similar to other episodic titles from Telltale. You play as Batman with the game focusing less on the action and more on Bruce Wayne himself; his inner workings and gloomy personality. You’ll make lots of meaningful choices and experience a solid story set in the Batman universe. A solid Xbox Games with Gold offering.

The other two games are also pretty nice. Tekken 6 is a nice fighting game and while it’s not as popular as Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat it has lots to offer. Finally, Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy is one of the best Lego games ever. Filled with quality humor, with a humongous cast of Star Wars characters, this is a perfect title for a few chill afternoons.
