The Surge Trailer Released - Bad Day at The Office

Focus Home Interactive has released a new trailer for Surge, the upcoming action RPG from the makers of Lords of the Fallen. It’s called Bad Day at The Office, and it seems to set up the scene for the actual game, showcasing the events that led up to the events portrayed in the game.

You’re going to play as Warren, an employee of a futuristic corporation called CREO. Something’s going to go horribly wrong, leaving you with a powerful exoskeleton and a bunch of enemies. Here’s the official explanation:

Freshly recruited as an augmented worker, Warren’s first day coincides with a catastrophic event deep inside CREO, during the routine surgical operation meant to graft, through flesh and bone, the exo-suit required for the company’s employees. This disastrous event marks the first in a series of brutal events, turning this first day at CREO into a hellish nightmare of robots gone haywire, crazed employees with fried cranial implants, and artificial intelligence all wanting Warren dead.

The exosuit wasn’t really made for battle, but it will have to do. Same goes for the standard issue CREO tools you’ll find along the way – make do with what you have. As the game progresses, you’ll get the ability to enhance your exo-skeleton, making it easier to dispatch the hordes of enemies after you. You’ll even be able to take the parts from your enemies and use them to upgrade your arsenal.

Lords of the Fallen was a pretty decent game, but it was too close to Dark Souls not to be compared. This time, though, although the systems seem similar at first sight, the theme and setting are far removed from the epic fantasy of the Souls series, which will hopefully stop people from comparing the two. The Surge is going to be released sometime during May, on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
