Total War Warhammer 2 Trailer Offers First Look At Campaign Map

There’s a new trailer for Total War Warhammer 2 on Youtube, and it’s all about the campaign map. It showcases the different areas of Ulthran, the isle that houses the high elves. It also explains the goals of the high elves’ campaing.

The fist thing you notice is the Great Vortex, swirling right in the middle of the map, above the Isle of The Dead. It was created by the high elves back in the day, to help fight the Chaos invasion. A passing comet has damaged the vortex’ shielding, making it unstable in the process. Oops.

There’s a struggle between those who’d like to use the vortex for their own advancement, and those who’d prefer to see it contained. Every race is going to have to perform some sort of ritual in order to have their way, and that’s what the campaign is all about.

The trailer then goes on to talk about the high elves. They’re an arrogant, advanced race, with great military and a deep understanding of magic. They love politics, as advanced races usually do, and they’re no strangers to meddling in the affairs of others.

Naval travel will be a big part of the game, and you’ll have to contend with storms and shallow waters on your journey, as well as the ships of other races. Once on foreign land, you’ll find lots of ancient cities, which can either be used as sites for new settlements, or looted for money and items.

Total Warhammer 2 is going to be released on PC, on September 28th. It’s going to cost $60, but if you’ve played any of the recent Total War games, you know it’s going to get at least another $60 in DLCs down the line. If you preorder it, you’ll get free content for the first game, although it doesn’t say what kind.
