How to Play with Your Buddy in Pokémon Go

First thing first, in order to play, you must first assign a Pokémon to be your buddy. As we’ve already mentioned, you can assign any pokemon to be your buddy. If you already have a buddy, you can swap it for another Pokemon from your buddy’s page. Speaking of which, the buddy’s page can be opened by tapping on a buddy icon on the bottom left of the screen.

Now when we’ve established how to have a buddy, let’s see how can you play with them. It’s a rather easy thing, really. Open your buddy’s page and tap on the big “Play!” button. It is important to note that this can only be done in the augmented reality (AR) mode. Clicking on Play will automatically turn on your camera, and your Pokémon will soon appear on the screen.

Now, all that you need to do is to simply put your finger on the screen so that it touches the Pokemon and “rub” your finger back and forth or in a circular motion on it to “tickle” your Pokemon. Continue doing this until your Pokemon jumps in joy and excitement. This should last approximately 10 to 15 seconds. With that said, that’s all you need to know about playing with your Pokemon in Pokemon GO.
