NOTE: This guide is a work in progress. We’ll be adding more info as we discover it.

Where to Find Pokemon Fossils in Pokemon Sword & Shield?

To find the Pokemon Fossils in Pokemon Sword & Shield, you’ll have to know where to look for them. We’re gonna start with the Fossilized Bird. You can get that at the Pokemon Center in the town of Stow-on-Side. There, you’ll find a fellow in a grey shirt and dark-green pants. Talk to him, and he’ll just give you two Fossilized Birds out of the goodness of his heart.

To get two Dino Fossil items, go onto Route 6 and pass the Diglett monuments, as well as a stone arch. Go down the second ladder, take a left, then climb up the next ladder. Look to the left of the large rock you’ll find to the left of the top of the ladder.

Another way to get Fossils in Pokemon Sword & Shield is to visit the Digging Duo. You can find these fellas near the Pokemon Nursery in Bridge Field. That’s the Wild Area northeast of Motostoke. Those guys can dig up useful items for you for 500 Watts each. And there’s a decent chance that different Fossils are going to be among these items. Just make sure that you have the Watts for this.

However, it seems that we can only get Dino Fossil and Bird Fossil in Pokemon Sword. In the same locations we’ve discussed above, people playing Shield should find the Fish Fossil and the Drake Fossil. So, you’ll have to trade items with people in order to fill out your whole Pokedex.

How to Combine Fossil Pokemon in Pokemon Sword & Shield – Fossil Combinations

To combine the Pokemon Fossils in Pokemon Sword & Shield, you’ll have to go and speak with the aforementioned professor Cara Liss. You can reach her easily by coming onto Route 6 from the west. After you pass the Diglett statues and under the stone arch, keep going forward and go down the ladder. Then, head left, and climb up the next nearest ladder. You’ll immediately spot the slouched figure in a lab coat. That’s Cara Liss.

Speak with the professor, and you’ll be able to combine the fossils you’ve discovered in order to create the Pokemon you want. Simply follow through the dialogue, and you’ll be fine. Plus, you have to confirm your choice at the end, so, if you’ve made a mistake, don’t worry. Anyways, there are four different Pokemon that you can get by combining Pokemon Fossils. We’re now gonna list them, their Pokemon types, and which fossils you’ll need:

  • Arctozolt (Electric / Ice) – Fossilized Bird + Fossilized Dino
  • Dracozolt (Electric / Dragon) – Fossilized Bird + Fossilized Drake
  • Arctovish (Water / Ice) – Fossilized Fish + Fossilized Dino
  • Dracovish (Water / Dragon) – Fossilized Fish + Fossilized Drake
