Resident Evil 3 Remake Mod Replaces Nemesis with Shrek

As sure as the Sun rises in the east, there’s a mod out for the remake of Resident Evil 3 that turns Nemesis into Shrek. Rare is the meme that is as long-lived as shoving Shrek everywhere. And, based on the video that the mod’s creator has put out, seeing the ogre in RE3 is way scarier than I would’ve expected it to be.

Resident Evil 3 Remake Mod Replaces Nemesis with Shrek

The only thing that surprises me with this mod is that it took a month after launch for it to happen. With the now hallowed tradition of truly ridiculous mods for the Resident Evil remakes (including the likes of Thomas the Tank Engine), it was nothing less than a given that Shrek was going to make an appearance in RE3. Well, thanks to modder MrMarco1003, you can now substitute Nemesis with the truest of horrors – the swamp ogre himself. You can check out all the details of the mod on its NexusMods page.

Now, I know what you’re wondering; is Shrek truly that terrifying? The answer is: “absolutely, 100% yes.” Seeing Shrek’s goofy face emanating from the darkness is bad enough. On top of that, the modder hasn’t changed any of the Nemesis audio. So, you won’t be hearing anything cute like “Get outta my swamp!” Oh, no; they’ve kept all the growls and snarls and howls of “STARS!” In a truly bizarre way, this mod reframes Shrek as what he’d truly be capable of if he, heaven forbid, got the Zack Snyder treatment.

All that said, of course, you can’t help but have a nervous giggle when you see Shrek carrying a grenade launcher, or crashing through walls like it’s nothing. You can see what the Shrek mod for Resident Evil 3 looks like in action in the trailer below. Feel free to sing “All Star” at your own discretion.
