Since it is a game that heavily revolves around space exploration, it’s no wonder that Starfield has space ships that you can use to travel from one planet to another. And, seeing as your space ship is an important part of your character, you will naturally want to have as much control over how you ship performs and looks like as you can. Thankfully, there are a lot of Ship Interior Customization and Spaceship Decoration options in Starfield, and we are going to go over all of them and explain how to customize your ship, right here.
Starfield Ship Customization & Decoration
In order to customize your ship in SF, you are first going to need to visit a spaceport. Once there, speak to the resident Ship Technician. This will open up several ship customization options. Here you can do things such as repair your ship, purchase additional ships (maybe you will even be able to have your very own fleet of ships), hire additional crew for your ship, change and upgrade your ship’s parts, and even freeform edit it in Ship Builder Mode.
You don’t have to bother with Ship Builder Mode if you don’t want to, but it is still a very nice option to have. This mode allows you to do things such as change your ship’s color scheme, move parts and modules around, and the design of the ship itself. The following parts of the ship are available: Weapons, Shield Generator, Engines, Fuel Tanks, Reactor, Hab, Cargo Hold, Bay, Landing Gears, Cowling, Cockpit, Grav Drive, and Docker. You will also be able to customize the interior of the spaceship in Starfield, though only to a certain degree – as we’ll see in the next section of the article.
How to Customize Ship Interior in Starfield
While you can customize your ship’s interior in SF, you won’t have as much control here as you do when you freeform edit it. In fact, if you are wondering how to change the inside of your ship – the only thing that you can really do here is to buy different Habitats for it. These will automatically change how the interior of the ship looks like. They act more like templates, meaning that you won’t have the option to move around furniture and do any home decorating as you would in games such as The Sims 4. One way you can decorate your spaceship in Starfield is proudly put up your weapons and armor on display in the ship’s armory.
Of course, it’s always possible that this option is going to be added into the game with a future DLC or patch update, and it’s only a matter of time before modders tackle this and include this feature (and, no doubt, many others) in various mods.
